Kumara Kids
about.
Kumara kids is a transformational learning experience that highlights the power of growing your own food as a sustainable way of feeding our country. Kumara kids aims to educate primary school children in low decile schools how to sustainably plant grow and nurture Kumara though a hands-on learning experience. Throughout the experience children learn the importance of Kaitakitanga and Whanaungatanga by collectively planting a kumara patch for their community. The experience highlights the value in growing your own vegetables and how it could be the answer to feeding New Zealand.

vision.
The projects vision was to highlight the Maori world views Kaitiakitanga, Te mana ao turoa, whanaungatanga within a learning environment that provides people with the opportunity to learn how to grow and cook their food sustainably and respectfully that benefits not only them but also the environment around them.
